Introducing our new Development Officer Rhoda Wu – Carol Burns writes:

On behalf of the trustees of Growing Old Gracefully I am pleased to let you know that Rhoda Wu will be working for us for 14 hours a week for at least a year.

Rhoda shares some of her background below:

‘I am excited to get to know people in the Diocese and work together with you all to support Later Life Friendly initiatives. My experiences over the last few years with my parents in their frailty and dementia have led me to grapple with, reflect on and search out pathways of supporting them that maintain dignity, choice and encouragement.

I had the privilege of working at Leeds Christian Community Trust for nearly 12 years in a variety of roles, where I gained a broad experience and awareness of many Christian community projects and social action initiatives. Previous to that I worked in Leeds City Council in various departments including Housing, Benefits and latterly Education, which gave me an insight into the complex picture of needs and opportunities in communities. I look forward to meeting many of you in the course of my work with Growing Old Gracefully.’ Rhoda Wu.

We are very grateful to everyone who is funding this work including Catholic Care who have responded very positively to Bishop Marcus’ invitation to support this work. We are also grateful to the Sisters of Charity of St Paul, Apostle, Sisters of Mercy and the Linden Trust.

The Ladies of the Grail are also supporting us in a new project which will be parish based and we will be sharing more information about this soon.
